Uncover the Heart of México in Xochimilco

2 Hour

Description

I welcome you with a traditional coffee at Dalia (a women cultural collective coffee shop) we will walk to Xochimilo farmers market to choose fresh vegetables for our lunch.

You will learn about local and ancient traditions while we cook together a local delicacy in a traditional boat in the idyllic Xochimilco canals.

We will ride a bike taxi from the markets to the pier with access to the natural reserve, which is perfect for appreciating the landscape and its flora and fauna.

I’ll recount the history, symbolism, and meaning of my dressing and some regional legends, myths and traditions.

Before we end our journey, we will visit an Axolotl sanctuary. Axolotls are Xochimilco’s endemic salamanders, listed as a endanger species and used extensively in scientific research due to their ability to regenerate limbs, gills and brain.

We´ll then wrap up the experience with a “toritos” toast
(fruit juice with mezcal) and finish the tour at Dalia, from there, you can wait for ride or move on to your next destination or maybe keep exploring the fantastic center of Xochimilco.
